Online Classes

Customized Learning Environments

With over a decade of experience teaching online classes, I work with students to offer them courses and assignments that best meet their needs.

Some examples:​ 

Private Zoom classes – the student and I meet in a Zoom meeting to work on their assignments or in a subject area they would like to explore and improve their skills in. 

Tutoring by email – in this option, I communicate with the parent/student about what they would like to focus on. Then I create assignments suited to their level and interests to send to them. They do the work and email their assignment to me for review. 

Group Zoom classes - get a group of students together through Zoom. I meet with them online weekly to teach in a subject area and for students to interact and explore together. Students then send assignments to me for feedback and receive individualized input on their work. (note: classes can be a mix of ages 10+)

English Language Arts Focus

Read, Understand, Write.

My main focus is English Language Arts: reading; academic writing; personal/reflective writing; novel studies; critical thinking.

My goal for students is to help them learn to write well and to write fast. Writing can so often feel laborious for students, and getting their ideas and research down onto paper can take a disproportionate amount of time. I believe students can learn how to write in their own clear and engaging manner. Beyond that, I want students to have fun along the way and to be able to write about things that are of interest to them.

I will help your student develop the core language and writing competencies necessary to communicate personally, effectively, and with positive impact in a variety of settings.

Custom Course Design


Education Your Way

I have developed courses in areas such as: Human Rights; Fair Trade; Careers/Life Skills; Global Issues; Canadian History (high school); Non-violent protest movements; Social Studies; Northern communities; and more.

Content is explored through a wide variety of engaging and dynamic sources: documentaries, readings, photo essays, news articles, videos, personal stories of those living in different parts of the world ... and much more!

This is a fully customized option that can help aspiring writers of fiction, poetry, screen plays and all things creative move from the idea they have in their imagination to the piece they can post, publish or pitch. One-on-one instruction, assignments and feedback, tailored to your student.

Corinne Plett - My Story

I have developed and taught both in-person and online classes, worked as a private tutor, and homeschooled for 20 years. I specialize in alternative and creative forms of education tailored to the individual needs and interests of the student. I am also a consultant for families and students who want an education plan which focuses on their areas of greatest passion while meeting the graduation requirements of the province they live in. I create courses and assignments which help students meet their individual learning goals, and I provide in-person, online class, and online individual support for students.

My focus is on students in middle and high school, beginning where they are at and helping them move forward from there. I also do phonics work with students of any age who are struggling with learning to read. For the past 10 years, a significant part of my work has been with students who face unique reading and writing challenges because they are in the early stages of learning English as an additional language.

I believe that every student can be equipped and empowered to excel. My passion is to help that happen for the student(s) you want to see flourish.
